EUROGATE publishes first sustainability report
Port operator EUROGATE has announced the publication of its first sustainability report, which focuses on its commitment to equal consideration of economic efficiency, environmental protection, and social responsibility underpinned by stable economic development.
The report looks at the company’s sustainability-related activity for 2016, with successes from the period including its implementation of a compliance management system and progress with regards to achieving its environmental targets.
The organisation, which has a network of 12 seaport locations worldwide, intends to extend its environmental strategy to include economic and social dimensions in future years.
In a press release for the announcement of the report’s publication, EUROGATE said: “Container ports are traditionally dependent on the cyclical and political global economic climate as well as on societal upheavals.
“With this in mind, it is our goal as Europe’s leading, shipping line-independent container terminal operator to be able to offer our customers an efficient, highly productive and sustainable service.
“EUROGATE has been committed to protecting the environment and resources since the 1980s. This commitment is now being extended to include the economic and social dimensions.”
In 2016, the EUROGATE group handled a total of 14.6m teu.
