The right tools for the job

Israel Ports Company, operating through Amarillis (both government owned), is marketing internationally its mobile ship crew security system, which is used at all of Israel’s ports to verify crew member identity using biometrics, scanning technology and security profiling.

The company has also developed an automated paperless gate based on OCR, LPR and RFID technology and electronic messages pre-authorising arrival at the gate of both export and import cargoes.

In collaboration with Bynet, an Israeli hi-tech firm, Amarillis has developed portable technology specially designed for passport control and entry approval for crew members – all based on IMO requirements – that can be processed on board.

A suite of applications designed specifically for ports is available from iOmniscient, using Intelligent Analytics methods. At the core of IQ-Port is a face detection and recognition system – which the company says “can operate in crowded scenes with high accuracy”. Coupled with this is perimeter protection technology that can identify and distinguish individual vehicles, ships people and animals.

This system is also armed with iOmniscient’s unique Nuisance Alarm Minimization System (NAMS) which can cope with the complex and crowded scenes that exist in the real world, ensuring reliable results.
