South American orders continue for Liebherr
With the continuing economic development in South America, Austrian crane provider, Liebherr continues on a high level with more orders for cargo handling equipment.
Liebherr reached a new record in 2011 delivering 16 mobile harbour cranes and has delivered 15 LHMs this year. The fifth Liebherr mobile harbour crane supplied to Mexico went into operation in Manzanillo. The new LHM 550 is the biggest container handling mobile harbour crane in Manzanillo with a 54m outreach.
South American orders are also flowing for Cargotec. The company has won contracts to supply four new Kalmar reachstackers to the Port of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Two new Kalmar DRF420-60S5 reachstackers have been purchased by Terminal Ferroviaria Argentina SA (TEFASA) with a further two DRF450-65S5 models purchased by another major terminal at the Buenos Aires port.
At TEFASA, the Kalmar models will join an existing Kalmar DC4160 laden container handler fleet and will replace two DC4160 laden container handlers.
Elsewhere, Liebherr has won a £26m contract to manufacture four new ship-to-shore gantry cranes for Associated British Ports’ (ABP) redevelopment of container berths at the Port of Southampton, UK.
