Are global container volumes falling?

Container volume at the Port of Oakland in California has fallen compared with the same period last year, in a trend that is possibly global

Oakland handled 135,253 teu in August 2023, a fall of 13.1% compared with the same month in 2022.

The Port of Liverpool, UK has recently announced a redundancy programme after volumes fell 12% in the first half of 2023 on top of a 7% decrease in 2022.
