The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA) and International Cargo Handling Coordination Association (ICHCA) have joined forces to help improve safety and sustainability across ports and terminals worldwide.
The memorandum of understanding details the programme of cooperation which includes agreed actions and initiatives, meetings, sharing and exchange of information and ad hoc task forces.

PEMA’s president Achim Dries called the deal a ‘momentous step towards greater collaboration and innovation’.
“Together with ICHCA, we are poised to harness collective expertise, drive sustainable practices, and elevate safety standards, all for the benefit of our industry stakeholders,” he said.
“This MoU signifies not only a union of two influential organisations but also a shared vision to shape the future of safer port equipment and operations.”
Richard Steele, chief executive of ICHCA said the agreement would help ICHCA deliver on its commitment to improve safety, security and sustainability in the logistics supply chain.
“The mutual cooperation between our two organisations will be aimed at the universal understanding and application of measures for the safe handling,” he said. “PEMA has a global reputation for passionate commitment and practical action to drive safety measures.”
