Global container trade volumes reached 16.03 million teu in January 2026, signalling a stronger start to the year for the port business despite mixed regional exports performance.

Insight from Container Trades Statistics Ltd (CTS) reveals that global container trade began 2026 on a positive footing, with January volumes reaching 16.03 million teu, a 4% increase compared with January 2025 and nearly 10% higher than January 2024.
