The Secretary of State for Transport has granted development consent for the Immingham Eastern Ro-Ro Terminal project on England’s east coast.
The approved plans include:
- Up to three new outer harbour ferry berths
- Associated marine infrastructure, such as finger piers, pontoons, link-spans, and jetty approach structures
- Landside development spanning a minimum of 46 acres, featuring freight and passenger vehicle parking and improved highways infrastructure
- A new passenger terminal building, complete with an engineering workshop and related facilities
The application, submitted by Associated British Ports on 10 February 2023, was accepted for examination on 6 March 2023.
Following a thorough review that allowed public, statutory consultees, and interested parties to present evidence, recommendations were made to the Secretary of State on 25 April 2024.
This marks the 53rd transport application out of 144 examined to date, completed within the statutory timescale set by the Planning Act 2008.
Local communities continue to have opportunities to engage in the examination of projects affecting them.
