Gulfport adds hybrid harbour crane

SSA Marine and the Mississippi State Port Authority at Gulfport have commissioned a new hybrid mobile harbour crane and secured state funding to electrify equipment, strengthening cargo handling capacity while supporting the port’s sustainability ambitions

The new Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour crane has a lifting capacity of 124 tonnes and is the second crane of its type operated by SSA Marine at the Port of Gulfport.

Equipped with a hybrid drive system, the crane will initially operate using its onboard power system before transitioning to electric operation once new infrastructure is completed.
