Celebrating 25 years of continuous innovation, Liebherr Container Cranes has unveiled its next-generation rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) crane portfolio, showcasing five enhanced base models.
The new RTG range includes electric, hybrid and variable speed generator models, said to combine reduced emissions, lower operational costs and optimised performance.
The five models – ERTG-CB, ERTG-CRD, RTG-HC, RTG-HB and RTG-VSG – offer operators a diverse range of solutions to meet environmental and economic objectives.
“Our range of RTGs offers unparalleled flexibility and choice to meet diverse operational requirements,” said Charlie McCarthy, managing director, engineering at Liebherr Container Cranes.
“Our electric RTGs operate with zero local emissions while our hybrid models deliver exceptional performance alongside significant reductions in emissions, running costs, and maintenance.”
McCarthy also highlighted Liebherr’s energy modelling capabilities, enabled by proprietary software. “We can simulate fuel and energy usage for each configuration based on a customer’s operational scenario, ensuring optimal machine selection,” he said.
Liebherr’s hallmark eight-rope reeving system, introduced with its very first RTG, continues to anchor the portfolio, delivering excellent load stability and reduced sway for precise container handling.
The new models integrate this feature with modern drive systems, smart energy solutions and optional automation features.
