A major interchange at the Port of Los Angeles is set for an upgrade

“This interchange project will greatly enhance traffic safety for our communities while improving port efficiencies and traffic flow,” said Port of Los Angeles executive director Gene Seroka.

“As the nation’s largest port complex, we need to maintain and improve our infrastructure to meet that demand, including roadways.”

The interchange provides access to San Pedro, Wilmington, Terminal Island and services the West Basin Container Terminal.

The works will replace and/or modifying existing on and off ramps as well as improve kerbs, storm drains, bicycle lanes, pedestrian crossing and street lighting and furniture.

Preliminary work will begin this month and the project is expected to be completed by 2026.
