As key Mexican ports along the Pacific coast grapple with increasing congestion and dispatch delays, Terminal Marítima de Mazatlán (Tmaz) is emerging as a powerful and efficient alternative to ensure supply chain continuity across the region.
Over the past five years, Tmaz has witnessed remarkable growth, expanding its steel cargo volume by more than five times.
“Mazatlan is consolidating its position as the gateway to the Pacific with efficiency, agility and a commitment to service excellence for our customers,” said the terminal’s general manager, Mauricio Ortiz.
Key advantages driving Tmaz’s momentum:
- Immediate berthing on arrival: Unlike many congested ports, vessels arriving at Tmaz are docked without delay, ensuring swift movement of cargo and eliminating costly wait times.
- Expedited dispatch: Fast and efficient operations minimise dwell time and reduce logistics costs for importers.
- Seamless coordination: A collaborative model involving the terminal, customs agents and port authorities guarantees uninterrupted cargo flow.
- Ongoing infrastructure Investment: Continuous improvements and modern equipment upgrades keep the terminal at the forefront of port logistics.
- Custom solutions: Tmaz’s operational flexibility allows it to adapt services to the unique requirements of each client and cargo type.
In 2024 alone, the terminal handled over 1.39 million tonnes of cargo, with a notable surge in steel shipments. It also maintained its leadership in vehicle transfers, moving nearly 165,000 units during the year.
Supporting this growth, Tmaz has invested US$5.5 million over the past three years in new equipment such as spreaders, reach stackers, forklifts, tractor trucks and specialised platforms.
