MOSOLF expands to Oostende

The new site enhances MPLS’s existing network by adding a strategically positioned port offering operational flexibility and room for growth.

Vehicles can be processed, technically prepared and readied for onward distribution directly on site, enabling seamless integration into the broader MOSOLF logistics system.

“With the new terminal at the Port of Oostende, we are expanding our port network with a location that offers operational flexibility, growth potential and close links to existing MOSOLF structures,” said Steffen Klatte, managing director of MOSOLF Port Logistics & Services.

“Against the backdrop of volatile supply chains and rising demands for efficiency and resilience, this expansion represents an important strategic step.”

The terminal currently spans around 80,000 square metres, with expansion potential of up to 200,000 square metres. It provides space for up to 3,000 vehicles and includes workshop facilities and high-voltage charging infrastructure.

With a draught of 8 to 9 metres, the port can accommodate around 80% of the global RoRo fleet, supporting efficient shortsea operations and intra-European transport.

Together with existing sites in Zeebrugge, Wilhelmshaven, Cuxhaven and Koper, the Oostende terminal further expands MPLS’s geographic reach.

Kai Wenhold, general manager Port Logistics at MOSOLF Port Logistics & Services, added: “Oostende is not a standalone location for us, but an integral part of an integrated port and logistics system.

“Its proximity to Zeebrugge, the available space and the port’s maritime orientation allow us to complement existing flows in a meaningful way and open up new market segments.”
