NorthPort has completed several major milestones in its ongoing three-year structural upgrade programme, with construction and rehabilitation works progressing steadily at Terminal 1 in Manila.
The infrastructure project is designed to strengthen terminal capabilities and support increasing domestic trade and cargo activity across the Philippines.
Works on the initial 40-metre segment at Pier 16, within the designated 100-metre work area, have been underway since April 2026 as part of the wider infrastructure modernisation initiative.
A key milestone was achieved following successful pile dynamic analysis testing on the site’s test piles, which confirmed the required design load and compliance with applicable engineering and safety standards.
Alongside piling and testing activities, NorthPort continues to undertake underdeck repairs, wharf structure rehabilitation and asset tagging works throughout Terminal 1. The asset tagging programme forms part of the company’s broader long-term asset management strategy aimed at improving operational reliability and maintenance planning.
The works are being implemented simultaneously to maintain construction momentum while ensuring safety and quality standards remain uncompromised throughout the project duration.
NorthPort said the current phase of works remains on schedule for completion by the end of June 2026, while the wider structural upgrade programme continues to track toward full completion by the end of 2027, in line with the approved three-year timeline.
