APM Terminals has launched the first phase of a major infrastructure upgrade at its terminal in the Port of Barcelona, in partnership with FCC Construcción

The work, which began in mid-August, is designed to increase the terminal’s operational capacity, accommodate larger vessels and boost decarbonisation in line with the company’s long-term sustainability goals.

The project includes increasing the quay’s draught to 15 metres, reinforcing berth foundations, adapting mooring systems and replacing crane rails to support five new ship-to-shore cranes.
