The LRS 545 is the newest cargo handling solution from the German firm and is compliant with the latest emission standards (EU stage IV and EPA tier 4 final).

The crane is equipped with a four cylinder, 230kW Liebherr diesel engine with selective catalytic reduction system. This, together with the downsized engine, enables the EU and EPA emissions standards to be met.

It features a wedge-shaped design and reduced front blind spot together with heated windows and automatic climate control.

Remote access and remote technical assistance in order to analyse data and carry out troubleshooting are possible via the internet.

Mr Leoni, reachstacker operator at the port, said: “When technology meets design, magic happens. That is exactly the case when I start the engine of the new Liebherr reachstacker and begin my shift.”

The Port of Ravenna is one of the biggest Italian ports in terms of container throughput and in particular handles solid bulk commodities including raw materials for the ceramic, grain, fertiliser and flour industry.

It adds the LRS 545 to its existing Liebherr mobile harbour cranes at various terminals within the port.
