A new device that can quickly tie and unfasten rope is tackling the problem of rope being cut and discarded into the ocean.
Because rope is often made of cheap, disposable plastic, it gets wet and difficult to untie. So more often than not, users will simply cut it and dump it overboard.
What Knot can be used at any point along the length of good quality rope, connecting and disconnecting in just six seconds.
It can be used on any rope with a thickness of between 3mm to 15mm. It’s completely waterproof, so will never rust or rot, and is impervious to the sun’s rays.
Steven Daniels, owner of Just Right Products UK & Europe, What Knot importer, said: “What Knot replaces this expensive, awkward and environmentally hazardous manoeuvre with a clean, quick and simple alternative. It’s great news for users and even better news for the seabirds and mammals threatened by waste products in their waters.”
