Santos box losses feared

The Brazilian Chamber of Containers has warned that the port of Santos may lose up to 45,000 teu this year because the ports customs authoritys has suspended customs clearance for rail-borne containers handled by the Libra group at its Ponta de Praia terminal. By forcing this box traffic to shift to road haulage alternatives, the cost of transport had gone up by 15%.

The proposed port will be ideally situated to serve both Chile and Ecuador.
