Iraq is accelerating efforts to utilise digitalisation at the ports of Umm Qasr (North and South). During the first week of July 2024, a team of specialists from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) conducted a mission in Basra to assess the support needed for Iraq to achieve its goal of implementing a maritime single window. Currently, 80% of Iraq’s imports move via Umm Qasr.
