PortXchange is launching the EmissionInsider Carbon Insight Suite, an upgraded version of its emissions tracking platform.
Building on the original EmissionInsider platform, the new version aims to set global standards for emissions reporting in the maritime sector, says PortXchange.
“EmissionInsider Carbon Insight Suite is more than just a tool,” said PortXchange’s chief executive, Sjoerd de Jager. “It represents a crucial step towards establishing a unified global standard for port emissions reporting, similar to standards already in place in other industries.”
The suite offers ports a customisable dashboard with bespoke modules, alongside a comprehensive Port Emissions Report for deeper emissions analysis.
The platform, already in use by major ports like Houston and Rotterdam, builds on its predecessor’s success by providing real-time emissions monitoring and eliminating the need for costly consultants and lengthy data collection.
Key features include unlimited user access for port authorities, enhanced executive reporting for C-suite decision-makers, and intuitive design for easy navigation. While the current focus is on vessel emissions, future updates will expand to include trucks, rail, and cargo handling equipment, covering all transport modalities within a port.
The platform also complies with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and uses established emissions calculation methodologies, like EPA’s MOVES4 and TNO for Europe.
“The launch of EmissionInsider Carbon Insight Suite significantly enhances ports’ ability to benchmark their performance against others,” added Sjoerd de Jager.
“This collaborative approach is essential as the maritime industry faces increasingly stringent environmental regulations and aims for more ambitious sustainability goals.”
Implementation is expected to take four to 12 weeks, depending on the integration scope.
