Speeding up container exports
A shipping company is joining forces with a port in Spain on an initiative to speed up the container export process, in turn reducing time, costs and emissions.
Valenciaport and Cosco Shipping Lines are collaborating on the project to provide, through a dispensing machine, the container seals to the carriers before going to the exporters’ facilities.
Seals are usually provided by shipping agents whose offices can be many kilometres away from the containers. By providing seals at the port, unnecessary journeys can be avoided.
To meet the requirements of data processing, traceability and security, the use of a mechanical device was proposed which, connected to ValenciaportPCS, will allow the automated dispatch of seals.
A prototype seal dispensing machine is now in a testing phase at the land transport service area at the Port of Valencia, providing Cosco Shipping Lines seals to authorised transport companies after entering the corresponding ValenciaportPCS transport order locator.
