PICT boosting capacity
The Phase 2 development of Karachis Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) is due for completion by the end of June.
Work has already begun on the $24 million third phase programme; phase one cost $30 million and phase two $17 million.
Following the importation of new cranage worth $6 million from ZPMC, PICT cranes now has a complement of three and will add a fourth by September, as well as four new RTGs.
The terminal will be able to handle 500,000TEU/year once Phase 3 has been finished.
