PTP REPORTS RECORD GROWTH

The Tecon Suape terminal reported profits for the first time with these following on from a significant increase in cargo throughput and positive management initiatives on the part of ICTSI to introduce more efficient operational procedures and working practices.

Malaysia’s PTP, Singapore’s new rival, reported a 25% first half throughput increase to 2.01mTEUs. Of the total, 1.83mTEU was transhipped with local cargo increasing by 22% to 63,500TEUs. An additional two berths, with an alongside draught of 19 metres, were recently opened increasing capacity from 4.5m to 6mTEUs. Six more berths are planned, for which reclamation work has already been completed.
