ESPL grows capacity

Essar Shipping Ports and Logistics’ revenue increased by 18% quarter on quarter. ESPL’s key highlights for the period include the start of operation of its deep draft all weather port at Hazira.

Used for imports of iron ore, pellets, coal, limestone and export of finished steel products the terminal has capacity of 30 million tonnes per annum. It is one of the country’s largest dry bulk terminals with a 550-metre long berth.

The terminal will not only support Essar Steel Hazira’s expanded steel-making capacity but also result in faster services and substantial savings for other trade and terminal users.

Further, the navigation channel that connects it to the Gulf of Khambatt is being deepened to bring in mini cape-sized vessels up to 105,000 dwt.

Further, EBTL-Hazira signed a 20 year contract with Essar Steel for an assured cargo of 23 million tons per annum.
