Revenue up for Essar

The ports division of Essar Shipping Ports & Logistics Ltd has announced a revenue increase of 53% for the quarter, year-on-year.

During the quarter the ports division handled 9.55m tonnes of cargo, up by 4.6% from 9.13m tonnes for the corresponding period last year.

The first half of current financial year saw the ports business handle 19.4m tonnes of cargo (this included 15.2m tonnes of liquid, 4.2m tonnes of dry bulk and 30,000 tonnes of project cargo) as against 17.5m tonnes for corresponding period of the last year.

Added to this, Hazira Port also recently commenced handling containerised cargo.
