Paradip announces expansion plans
Paradip Port Trust has outlined a plan to boost capacity more than three times to 237m tonnes by 2020.
This is despite the fact that overall throughput in 2010-11 dropped by 1.72%.
There will be 22m tonnes of additional capacity made available to the Indian Oil Corporation, 75m tonnes for iron ore and coal and an extra 20m tonnes in the form of a new liquefied natural gas terminal.
According to chairman GJ Rao, this will expansion will allow Paradip to overtake four other ports to become India’s leading cargo facility.
