Ports of Auckland has announced plans to make an offer for Port of Tauranga''s container business and has appointed investment bank Cameron Partners as financial adviser.
The two port companies were only recently embroiled in significant merger discussions, before Ports of Auckland's Local Government owner decided it was not in the best interests of Auckland overall.
Port of Tauranga chief executive Mark Cairns says his company is "unchanged" in its view that a full merger of the two ports "makes very good sense".
