Cadiz growth continues apace

Cadiz Bay believes that levels of traffic reported in 2004 mean that it produced above average increases when compared to other Spanish ports, with total throughput reaching 5m tons.

A further 416,000TEUs will be catered for by rail with capacity for handling 30 train arrivals daily, giving a total capacity of 500,000TEUs.

This follows two years of little growth after the 1997-2000 period when volume increases at the port were double the average figure of similar facilities in Spain. In terms of investment, the port is to expand the Reina Sofia and Marques de Comillas quays, with work to begin in 2004 and 2006 respectively.
