China Merchants Holdings has acquired a 50% stake in Thesar Maritime, giving it a 35-year concession to operate and develop a container terminal in Lome, Togo.
The port investor and operator acquired the stake for E150m from Terminal Investment, which will retain the remaining 50%.
The Lome concession covers a four-berth terminal with a planned maximum annual capacity of 2.2m teu.
The first phase of the project will be ready for operation by December 2013.
