Bangladeshs Anti-Corruption Commission has appointed a three-person team to look into corruption allegations at the port of Chittagong. The decision was prompted by a request from the Shipping Ministry.

The remit involves investigating a tender for the selection of a container handling agent, as well as the raising of the retirement age of pilots from 57 to 60 years.

The government had already cancelled the highly controversial contract awarded to Ishaque Brothers to manage one of the port’s container terminals. Shipping adviser Mr MA Martin is now facing criminal charges as a result.
