Finnish provider of energy management technology to the shipping industry, Eniram Ltd, has been presented with a global Cleantech Cluster Association (GCCA) 2012 award at the Savannah International Clean Energy Conference.
It reflects Eniram’s success at delivering technology to ship owners and operators that help them to use less fuel across their shipping fleets and significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Eniram software allows ships to do this by capturing real-time data about a vessel’s performance against a number of indicators - most notably trim, speed and fuel efficiency.
Philip Padfield, CEO of Eniram, said: “Eniram is delighted to have won the Transportation category of the CGGA this year. This award highlights the company’s commitment to supporting our customers in striving for global environmental excellence and sustainable development.”
Over the years to come, legislative requirements will only intensify as the various regions and countries introduce their own measures, and their respective ports set restrictions on permitted sulphur levels and so on.
The IMO’s requirement for operators to develop and work to a Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) means that from 1 January 2013, every operator must have a plan, which clearly sets out the measures they will be taking to reduce their impact on the environment.
The Global Cleantech award clearly recognises Eniram's efforts in order to help the shipping industry move forward to achieve that.
