Contship Italia has stepped up to the challenge set down by shipping lines in their pursuit of alliances, mergers and integration.
Group president Cecilia Eckelmann-Battistello said the company continues to strongly invest in its facilities, “setting the scene for the new scenario involving major changes both in networks and shipping line co-operations”.
This investment led to 5.7% growth in container volumes in 2014, taking throughput to 6.6m teu.
In a breakdown, Contship Italia described La Spezia Container Terminal as “a champion” in the North Tyrrhenian market, recording record volumes last year. However, Medcenter Container Terminal experienced a “modest contraction”, while Terminal Container Ravenna performance was described as “slightly lacklustre”.
