The GreenPort Congress is an annual event that brings together port professionals and environmental specialists to discuss what it takes to effectively implement the changes needed to reduce their carbon footprint. Not to mention to enabling them to be more sensitive to environmental considerations, which is vital to their future success. The Congress also aims to highlight innovations in equipment and technology to allow port users to adhere to policy, whilst illustrating practical solutions through case studies from the global logistics chain.

The 2016 programme has now been released and, following the COP21 meeting held in Paris last year, tackling global climate change has never been more important to ports across the world. In a session moderated by Olaf Merck, OECD, participants at this year’s Congress will be given an introduction to the outcome of the Paris Agreement together with practical presentations on combating climate change.

The 2016 GreenPort Cruise Conference and GreenPort Congress Welcome Reception will take place on the terrace of Hotel Bauer, with beautiful views of Venice's Grand Canal and the famous Chiesa di Santa Maria Della Salute. The Welcome Reception is always a networking icebreaker, which provides the perfect opportunity to discuss the presentations from Cruise and consider the topics and working groups, taking place during the two proceedings days. The standing cocktail reception will take place on Tuesday 11 October, from 19.00pm – 21.00pm, with the hotel located two minutes walking distance from St. Mark's Square. Alternatively, delegates can take the Vaporetto (public water-bus) line one to San Marco Vallaresso or a private water taxi directly to the hotel dock.
