Coastlink is a neutral pan-European network dedicated to the promotion of short sea and feeder shipping, and the intermodal transport networks through the ports that support the sector. It is a place for industry professionals to meet and discuss future innovation, economic and environmental considerations – and develop partnerships that will help build a sustainable future. Electric cranes revolutionise US inland waterways
Liebherr has entered the US inland transshipment sector with the provision of two CBG 500 E cranes for Associated Terminals
Mounted on hybrid-powered barges, the cranes are powered entirely by electric drives, eliminating hydraulic fluids and significantly cutting emissions.
The first all-electric transshipment cranes to operate on the US inland waterways, each crane has a 90-tonne grab capacity, a 105-tonne hook load and a handling rate of up to 2,000 tonnes per hour.
