Massport to bring shore power to cruise

The Massachusetts Port Authority has pledged US$100 million to upgrade Flynn Cruiseport Boston, including US$60 million for shorepower infrastructure.

The cruise port celebrated a record-breaking 2024 season, welcoming more than 480,000 passengers on 167 vessels, a 29% increase in passenger numbers from last year.

The shorepower project will enable nearly 80% of ships serving Boston to plug into shore power or use low-carbon alternatives, reducing emissions significantly.
