Oakland Port joins whale initiative

The Port of Oakland has joined the Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies programme as an ambassador, marking a significant step forward in its commitment to environmental stewardship and marine conservation

BWBS is a voluntary initiative that encourages shipping lines to slow their speeds to 10 knots or less in designated coastal zones between May and December. 

As an ambassador, the port will work with shipping lines to promote compliance and expand industry participation.
