Seattle Port unveils electrification ambitions

The Port of Seattle in Washington, US has unveiled its Seattle Waterfront Clean Energy Strategy, a comprehensive plan aimed at supporting the electrification of buildings, vehicles, vessels and equipment on port-owned properties

Developed in collaboration with The Northwest Seaport Alliance and Seattle City Light, the strategy outlines the investments and infrastructure upgrades needed to achieve a zero-emission maritime sector by 2050.

Key findings emphasise the growing importance of shore power for oceangoing vessels and warn that current electrical capacity planning limits will be exceeded unless action is taken.
