The Port of Aberdeen has been awarded funding by the UK Government to design and deliver the first large-scale landside and vessel-side shore power system in Scotland. The project aims to cut vessel emissions at berths by more than 80 per cent compared to use of marine fuel, saving in excess of 60,000 tonnes of CO2 generation over the next 20 years. Shore power is planned for seven berths and to be operational by April 2025 at the latest.
