Five new port projects for Suape

Of the five port projects, one is a second container terminal, another a finished vehicles terminal, while a grain handling facility is also to be built. The other two terminals will handle mineral bulk.

The container terminal will be offered up first. A tender was originally issued in 2010 although was later suspended following the drafting of a new ports law.

“We have reopened the [original] studies,” confirmed Mr Norões, adding that traffic at Suape has grown from 15m tonnes in 2014 to 20m tonnes last year. In the first six months of this year, traffic reached 11m tonnes.
