Green Port Hull investment
There is speculation in the UK media that Siemens is about to ratify its Green Port Hull investment which could see the project moving forward at last.
But no public announcement has been made and Siemens refused to comment on the issue when approached by Greenport today.
According to media reports, the public are starting to become sceptical that the project will ever happen.
Plans to build the turbine factory in Hull were first proposed by Siemens in March 2010 and were submitted the following year. The plans were given approval in June 2012.
Ever since then the local Council and MPs and Associated British Ports (ABP) have been working hard to seal the deal which could create thousands of jobs in the offshore renewables supply chain.
Not to mention attract further major investment to the area and into the UK’s renewable energy industry.
It was hoped that the new Siemens factory could be operational and assembling turbines for large scale North Sea wind farms by the end of 2014.
It’s not clear if that is still the case.
