Brazil needs billions for transport problems
According to Brazil’s national transport confederation Confederação Nacional do Transporte (CNT), the country needs investment of $410bn to resolve all existing transport problems as well as to modernise infrastructure.
In its Transport & Logistics Plan 2018, CNT identifies 2,663 “fundamental” works for which the level of investment is needed. These cover roads, railways, ports, inland waterways and aviation and also urban public transport.
These works are needed, it stressed, to move both people and cargo in the shortest possible time and at the lowest cost.
“The CNT Transport & Logistics Plan makes clear the enormous challenge that the next president will face,” said CNT president Clésio Andrade.
“With the many demands that weigh on the state, the public sector alone will not be able to afford all this investment.
“It will be necessary to attract the private sector by offering legal security, good projects and attractive returns for investors.”
