Anesco lobbies Spanish government
A delegation of the Spanish stevedores’ owners association Anesco has met Ornella Chacón, president of the national ports authority Puertos del Estado, to stress the need to expedite the necessary regulatory environment for Spain’s new stevedoring legislation.
As part of the new regulations, Anesco wants to see more flexibility in the professional training required to be a stevedore. It also wants the government to recognise the specific technical peculiarities of the stevedoring sector, especially in respect of agencies providing casual workers.
It would like to see previously employed stevedores and those in the SAGEP stevedoring companies to benefit from early retirement programmes, where applicable.
Anesco is also seeking to reach agreements with local port unions, against both the backdrop of new stevedoring legislation and in terms of new collective bargaining agreements for the sector as a whole.
