BRAZIL MAY WAIVE PORT TAXES

The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority (PRPA) is in the throes of swapping maritime land known as the Pier 98 Annex to the SYSCO Corporation, a domestic food distribution company.

The Brazilian government has revealed that it is contemplating implementing legislation that will waive taxes normally imposed on national ports as a means of stimulating investment in them. The idea is being studied by the Finance Ministry, which will make the final decision.
