Of the total, Santos will receive US$59.32m, which is 600% higher than money allocated in 2004. Much of this is allocated to the construction of a perimeter road to serve the 16km of quay in the port, where the aim is to reduce congestion currently afflicting the port and surrounding area.

Port officials in the north Brazilian port of Belem – at the mouth of the Amazon system – have finally agreed on a timetable for privatisation of a container terminal. French carrier CMA CGM is tipped to win the concession. An area of 60,000 sq metres would be set aside for the project with the concession being for a minimum of 20 years.
