Brazil opens public-private door
The Brazilian government has announced plans to award a concession during the second half of the year for the countrys first public terminal to be built by the private sector.
The first project to be offered will be the second port at Manaus, where existing facilities are operating with lots of restrictions.
The project will be the first to be taken forward using legislation introduced by former president Lula. The new terminal, which will be located at the heart of the city’s industrial area and be basically focused on container handling, will require investment of $867m.
