Brazilian association threatens legal action

The Brazilian Association of Port Terminals (ABTP) has threatened legal action if terminals granted to private operators as concessions under the previous Ports Law are not renewed.

According to the ABTP’s president, Wilen Manteli, some 50 terminals are currently facing annulments, whereby their concession contracts have already matured or will do so by 2013.

Of this total, 30 are members of ABTP, which argues that the concessionaires involved have the right to exercise options giving them a further ten years to manage their terminals.
