Deadline for first new Brazilian port tenders

Initially, four terminals will be put out to concession: three in Santos and one at Vila do Conde, in Pará state. In June, the government had announced that eight operating areas would be prioritised; that figure has now been cut in half.

The announcement was made by the new Ports Minister Helder Barbalho.

Further, the SEP is to release new tenders in batches, the first of which will contain a total of 29 possible concessions, all of which have been scrutinised and cleared by the country’s Accounts Tribunal (TCU).

One of the new areas at Santos up for grabs is a series of warehouses (38, XL and XLII) located in the Export Corridor at Ponta da Praia to be used to store agribulk. A second warehouse concession is aimed at creating a cellulose handling terminal. Both will be offered as 25-year concessions.
