Hydromover hosts electrification partnership

This partnership aims to reduce emissions and increase operational efficiency, in line with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s objectives to promote the use of electric vessels in the Port of Singapore.

“Innovation to bring down emissions and increase efficiencies in the port supply chain requires collaboration and Wilhelmsen Port Services is excited to help bring this to the market,” said Jamie Wrightson, vice president Asia Pacific & India of Wilhelmsen Port Services.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding took place on 26 March on board the Hydromover, Singapore’s first fully electric cargo vessel, during Singapore Maritime Week.

Under the agreement, Yinson GreenTech will provide electric vessels and digital solutions, while R W Marine Services will manage the leasing and fleet operations of these vessels, with Wilhelmsen Port Services coordinating their deployment.

Jan-Viggo Johansen, managing director of marinEV, Yinson GreenTech said the partnership was a significant step forward in reducing emissions and enhancing efficiency. “By integrating our cutting-edge electric vessels and digital solutions with WPS’s port services and RW’s sea transportation handling, we aim to set a new benchmark for sustainable maritime practices,” he said.

Alvin Tan, managing director of R W Marine Services hailed the deal as a pivotal moment. “As a long-standing operator in Singapore’s port waters, we’re proud to be taking a proactive role in adopting electric vessels and enhancing our fleet management capabilities,” he said.
