Brazil ploughs ahead with investment programme

Senior Brazilian government minister, Dilma Rousseff, has stated that she is undeterred by the current disturbances in the international financial markets.

She does not expect the global credit crisis to seriously impact Brazil’s accelerated Growth Programme (PAC), since resources, she said, have already been identified.

Ms Rousseff also said that private sector investment in ports should also not be compromised, given that extended credit facilities exist.

President Luiz Lula added his weight describing Brazil as a stable country, with a strong currency, enviable economic growth and one of the most modern productive bases in the world.
