DP World targets greener supply chains

The new suite combines supply chain optimisation, carbon insetting, emissions management tools and strategic partnerships to support customers facing increasing ESG pressures, tightening regulation and growing scrutiny over logistics-related emissions.

It gives our customers the tools, insights and partnerships needed to reduce emissions across complex supply chains, while also delivering broader environmental and social impact,” said Ayla Bajwa, DP World Group senior vice president – sustainability.

Optimising efficiency

The EcoRoute platform also includes lower carbon logistics solutions through modal shift programmes, alternative fuel transport, electric mobility and lower-emission warehousing.

It also incorporates an emissions management capability through DP World’s Carbon Emissions Calculator, powered by EcoTransIT World and aligned with ISO 14083 standards, providing customers with end-to-end visibility across transport modes and helping identify further emissions reduction opportunities.

DP World said its Logistics Control Tower solution in Africa helped a major retailer increase transported volumes by 45% while expanding fleet size by only 5%, improving vehicle utilisation and overall supply chain resilience

In India, it helped a customer reduce transport emissions by 78% on the Chennai–Kolkata corridor by shifting freight from road to a multimodal rail and coastal shipping solution, while also improving reliability and reducing logistics costs.

A key component of the initiative is its carbon insetting programme, aimed at reducing Scope 3 emissions within customer supply chains.

DP World said its carbon insetting programmes at Southampton and London Gateway have generated more than 9,400 tonnes of verified CO₂ insets across 257,000 teu of cargo flows during 2025.
