Peel Ports champions sustainable construction

By joining the framework, Peel Ports is positioned to champion greener port infrastructure, marine construction logistics and sustainable construction practices nationwide.

Low-carbon supply chains

CO2nstructZero, created in response to the UK Government’s 10-point plan for a ’Green Industrial Revolution’, brings leading businesses together to accelerate decarbonisation across the industry.

Peel Ports is looking to help the sector reduce emissions by enabling more efficient, lower-carbon supply chains, including importing construction materials closer to their final destinations. It’s a pertinent time to join the framework as the operator pushes ahead with its construction framework across its ports.

The group has also launched its Sustainable Construction Partner programme, connecting materials suppliers, logistics providers and end users to streamline port operations and embed sustainability at every phase of marine construction delivery.

Founding partners, including Ecocem, Hercules, Bretts, Holcim, Mibau Stema and others, are already benefiting from greener, more efficient supply chains.

Going forward, the programme will support the development of dedicated construction consolidation hubs at every Peel Ports location, building on successful pilots at London Medway and Great Yarmouth.

These hubs will play a critical role in major UK infrastructure projects, enabling large-volume materials to move cost-effectively by rail or water and strengthening the construction industry’s long-term sustainability goals.
